The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (“ITA”) has released today the NCAA Division I Women’s ITA Collegiate Tennis National Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point which feature the Top 125 singles players and the Top 60 doubles teams at the conclusion of the fall season.
With the ITA Women’s All-American Championship and the National Fall Championships now behind us, the picture has started to become clearer as to what the spring dual match season will look like with several returners and newcomers establishing themselves as serious contenders this fall.
One of these players who looked unstoppable this fall was North Carolina’s Fiona Crawley, who did not drop a single match in singles play over these past few months. This includes winning the Women’s Singles Championships at both the All-American Championships as well as the National Fall Championships, marking the first time this feat had been accomplished since 2016.
Crawley was just one part of a very successful fall season for the entire North Carolina team as three players earned their spots into the Top 10 of the November 16th National Singles Rankings after semifinal and quarterfinal appearances at both ITA National Championships this fall.
Across the entire Singles Rankings, eight freshmen, and or newcomers, make their debut in the National Singles Rankings, including USC’s Madison Sieg who comes in as the No. 2 ranked player in the country after winning the 2022 Milwaukee Tennis Classic Champion against some very strong competition in her first collegiate action.
In doubles, all of the Semifinalists from both the All-American Championships as well as the National Fall Championships sit within the Top 10 of the November 16th National Doubles Rankings.
Within the entire Top 20 of the National Doubles Rankings, the ACC leads the charge with seven teams represented, followed closely by the Pac-12 which has four teams represented in the Top 20.
