PALO ALTO, CA – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) inducted seven new members into the ITA Men’s Collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame during the NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championships on Wednesday, May 25, on the Stanford University campus. The Class of 2011, which consisted of one coach and six players, four of whom played varsity collegiate tennis at Stanford, were honored at an Enshrinement Banquet at the McCall Hall in the Arrillaga Family Sports Center, that included a reception followed by a dinner.
Players are eligible for election to the ITA Men’s Collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame 15 years after their last collegiate match and coaches are eligible following retirement. The main criteria for election are college accomplishments as well as honors earned after college. College tennis legend Dan Magill serves as Chairman of the ITA Men’s Collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame and also curator, which is housed at the University of Georgia.

Simon Aspelin (Pepperdine) – Four-time ITA All-American (1994-97)…US Open Doubles Champion (2007)…Silver medal winner in doubles at 2008 Olympics.
Scott Davis (Stanford) – US Davis Cup team member (1980-1991)…Australian Open Doubles Champion (1991)…Ranked a high of No. 11 in the world in singles (1985)…Ranked a high of No. 2 in the world in doubles (1991).
Marcel Freeman (UCLA) – Member of two NCAA National Team Champion squads (1979, 1982)…Four-time ITA All-American (1979-1982)…Ranked No. 1 in final ITA Rankings during his senior year (1982)…Named ITA Player of the Year (1982).
Jim Grabb (Stanford) – Three-time ITA All-American (1984-86)…Helped lead Stanford to NCAA National Team Championship (1986)…ITA Rafael Usuna Award Winner (1986)…French Open Doubles Champion (1992)…US Open Doubles Champion (1992)…US Davis Cup member (1993)…Twice ranked the World No. 1 doubles player (1989 and in 1993).

Coach
Tim Cass (New Mexico/Texas A&M) – Head Coach at the University of New Mexico (1991-98)…Won five straight Western Athletic Conference (WAC) team titles…Guided the Lobos to a school best No. 6 ITA Ranking (1995)…Head Coach at Texas A&M University (1997-2006)…Won three Big 12 Conference Championships…Currently serves as the Senior Associate Athletic Director at New Mexico.
The ITA Men’s Collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame, housed at the University of Georgia’s Dan Magill Tennis Complex, was inaugurated in 1983 and has inducted more than 200 players, coaches and contributors. The ITA Hall of Fame museum displays over 2,000 rare photos and memorabilia. Its members include the late Arthur Ashe (UCLA), Jimmy Connors (UCLA), John McEnroe (Stanford) and Coach Dick Gould (Stanford).
