Oracle Challenger Series Wildcards Will Be Awarded To #ITAFallNats Singles Champions

TEMPE, Ariz. – Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association are excited to announce that the men’s and women’s singles champions of the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships will receive main draw wildcards into a 2019 Oracle Challenger Series tournament.

“We’ve always known that college tennis is a pathway to professional tennis,” said ITA Chief Executive Officer Timothy Russell. “Personally, and on behalf of our sport, I am incredibly grateful to Oracle CEO Mark Hurd and his vision to elevate the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships by offering a direct connection to Oracle’s new professional tennis endeavor, the Oracle Challenger Series.”

Launched in 2017, the Oracle Challenger Series was established to support up-and-coming American tennis players secure both rankings points and prize money. The Oracle Challenger Series is a combined ATP Challenger Tour and WTA 125K tournament offering equal prize money of $150,000 per event. The top two American women’s and men’s point-getters over the course of the series receive main draw wildcards into their respective single’s main draws at the BNP Paribas Open. The Oracle Challenger Series is the next chapter in Oracle’s ongoing support of American tennis.

The 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which takes place November 7-11, at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex, serves as the culminating event of the fall portion of the collegiate tennis season. The national tournament features 128 of the nation’s top collegiate singles players (64 men and 64 women) and 64 doubles teams (32 men’s teams and 32 women’s teams). In its second year, having replaced the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships is the lone event on the collegiate tennis calendar to feature competitors from all five divisions (NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and JUCO) playing in the same tournament.

The 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships men’s and women’s singles finals will stream live on ESPN3 and the ESPN App on Sunday, November 11th, beginning at 10 a.m. PDT/1 p.m. EDT, with the women’s final. The singles championships will re-air on ESPNU on Tuesday, November 13th, at 3 p.m. EDT/12 p.m. EDT.
