It will be a historic moment on January 26th for Marymount California University Athletics as it will be the first time that Marymount will have a tennis team since it became a 4 year college. Marymount will take on the University of Saint Katherine at Marymount California University to start off their season but also their history.

Although the team is filled with completely new faces to the GSAC, Head Coach Jamie Sanchez is not new to the tennis community as he has won many awards in his coaching career. This will be different though as the Men’s and Women’s team will have a mixture of new tennis players, veteran tennis players, and some with experience. It will be a challenging yet exciting time for the program as they look to make a name for themselves while in the GSAC.

Both Men’s and Women’s tennis will play mostly GSAC or NCAA Division 3 schools (Saint Katherine and Occidental College) but the women will get the advantage of going against Cal State Northridge early in their season. We are excited to see how the Mariners will stake up in conference play, especially against conference champion San Diego Chrisitan, who the Mariners will be going against multiple times this year before the conference tournament.
