ATLANTA, Ga. – In the ASUN Beam Video Series, the conference features student-athletes across the league that have excelled in the classroom and taken a Students First mentality during their time as a student-athlete. Throughout the year, the ASUN will feature two student-athletes from each institution that epitomizes the conference’s beam of Students First.

Kennesaw State’s Lucas de Torres Curth has shown he is just as avid in the classroom as he is on the court. Most recently, he was named to the ASUN All-Academic Team for the second-straight season as he sported a 3.91 GPA as an International Business major. Additionally, he has qualified for the ASUN Academic Honor Roll for the last three years.

“I have my priorities in the classroom and I like to take care of them,” said Torres Curth. “It’s my future right after college so getting the most out of it is very important.”

“He’s a student in International Business and a Coles Scholar which is a program you have to apply for here at Kennesaw State,” said Athletic Academic Advisor Lonna Bowman. “You have to have an excellent GPA to get into that program and Lucas is one of our few student-athletes who is a part of that program.”

“That program is one of the few things I’ve accomplished while I was here,” Torres Curth added. “Once I got accepted into that I felt I was on the right track academic wise because it gives you a higher level of exposure to businesses. You can take classes in leadership, consulting, critical thinking, and business intelligence which is completely relevant today.”

“He’s always asking ‘how would I get an interview for this job?'” said Kennesaw State Director of Tennis Matt Emery. “Or he’ll ask ‘what’s the best way to get this type of experience?’ He’s very smart and someone who loves to learn. I think that’s going to help him throughout his life.”

Prior to his senior season, Lucas interned at the Pan American Business and Legal Services for two months in Denver, Colo. Panam is a consulting firm that specializes in business developing which focuses on Public Affairs, Latino Engagement, and General Commercial Legal Services. He has also volunteered his time at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the local animal rescue and adoption center.
