TEMPE, Ariz. (November 19) – Brenau University sophomore Elyse Lavender and sophomore Jose Dugo of Georgia Gwinnett College finished atop the final 2019 Oracle ITA NAIA Fall Rankings that were announced Tuesday.
The Xavier (La.) duo of Angela Charles Alfred and Lailaa Bashir concluded the fall atop the women’s doubles rankings, while William Carey’s Dominik Fritsche and Daniil Klimov are the top pair on the men’s side.
Lavender enjoyed a solid fall season that was highlighted by defeating NCAA Division I opponent Holly Hitchinson (Old Dominion) in the first round of the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships and earning UTR/ITA NAIA National Player of the Month honors for October. She also captured the ITA Cup NAIA singles title.
Dugo is a two-time UTR/ITA National Player of the Month honoree, earning the accolade for September and October. He went undefeated (12-0) in singles and doubles while competing in the Grizzly Open and ITA Cup. Dugo won four singles matches against opponents from NCAA Division II and Division III schools at the Grizzly Open.
The Xavier (La.) doubles team of Alfred and Bashir won the ITA Cup NAIA title and ITA Cup Doubles crown. Fritsche and Klimov won the NAIA doubles title at the ITA Cup.
