2019-20 Oracle ITA NCAA Division II Final Fall Rankings Announced

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced today the UTR/ITA National Players of the Month for September.

TEMPE, Ariz. (November 20) – University of West Florida junior Berta Bonardi and junior Alejandro Ibanez Gallego of Barry University finished atop the final 2019 Oracle ITA NCAA Division II Rankings that were announced Wednesday.

  • Final Men’s Singles and Doubles Rankings: National
  • Final Women’s Singles and Doubles Rankings: National
  • Regional Team rankings will be available January 15, 2020.

The Nova Southeastern University duo of Natalie Espinal and Sarah Wardenburg concluded the fall atop the women’s doubles rankings, while Renato Lima and Dario Huber of the University of Indianapolis are the top-ranked men’s team.  

Bonardi went 4-0 at the ITA Cup to win the ITA Cup singles title. She defeated Nikol Alekseeva (Indianapolis); 6-3, 6-3 in the finals to qualify for the Oracle ITA Fall Nationals. The West Florida junior was named the UTR/ITA National Division II Player of the Month for her play in October. 

Gallego won the Division II ITA South Regional and ITA Cup, posting a 10-0 record during October. He had wins over three players who were ranked in last season’s final Oracle ITA Rankings, including No. 2 Angel Palacios of Midwestern State. His win at the ITA Cup secured an invitation to Oracle ITA National Fall Championships. The Barry junior was honored with UTR/ITA National Player of the Month for his October performance.

The Nova Southeastern doubles team of Espinal and Wardenburg won the ITA Cup NCAA Division II women’s title and ITA Cup Doubles crown. Lima and Huber captured the NCAA Division II ITA Cup men’s doubles title.
