Wake Forest University – Men’s Volunteer Assistant Tennis Coach


Wake Forest University is seeking to hire a volunteer assistant to assist with their highly ranked men’s tennis team in Winston Salem, NC. This is a 9-month position from Mid-August 2020 through May 2021. 

Responsibilities include assisting in all aspects of the tennis program, such as:

  • Organization and implementation of team and individual practice 
  • Attending all practice and competition
  • Travel to and coaching during team and individual competition
  • Travel to professional events with team members
  • Hitting with the highest level of collegiate tennis players
  • Watching and analyzing video of matches and producing scouting reports
  • Watching and analyzing video and live matches and producing reports on areas of weaknesses and how to improve team members.
  • Abiding by all written policies, procedures, and guidelines of Wake Forest University, the department of athletics, the NCAA and all applicable conferences or associations.

The candidate must have:

– A high level of competitive tennis, ideally collegiate or professional. 

– Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to form strong relationships

– Knowledge and intense passion for high level professional and collegiate tennis

– Physical fitness to play tennis to a high level for 5-6 hours daily

– A desire to work long hours including most weekends and some evenings.

– A desire to coach at the highest level of collegiate tennis and to be surrounded by likeminded people.
