Long Island University President Dr. Kimberly R. Cline, in conjunction with LIU Director of Athletics, Dr. William E. Martinov Jr., today announced the addition of a men’s tennis program to their athletics department, with immediate recruitment and competition beginning in 2021-22.

Women’s tennis head coach Jan Griga, recently named NEC Coach of the Year, will be elevated to the position of Director of Tennis/Head Men’s & Women’s Tennis Coach.

Potential future student-athletes are encouraged to fill out this questionnaire to connect with the coaching staff regarding opportunities to become a Shark.

“We are excited to be adding men’s tennis to our Shark family,” Martinov said. “It will complement our successful women’s tennis program, led by Coach Griga. We look forward to our continued pursuit of excellence both in the classroom and on the court!”

The Sharks will become the eighth Northeast Conference school to sponsor men’s tennis.

LIU is home to an exceptional Division I athletics program, fielding 33 athletics teams on two campuses. LIU’s NCAA Division I program builds on a foundation of excellence and tradition. In LIU’s history, its teams have combined for 23 national championships, 220 conference championships, and 379 All-Americans.
