For 120 Division I tennis teams, the Road to Indoors begins Friday as they take part in the 14th annual ITA Kickoff Weekend. Hosted by 15 men’s and women’s programs from around the country, all 120 teams will be playing for a spot in the 2022 ITA National Team Indoor Championships.

Returning to the traditional 60 team format, the 15 host sites on both the men’s and women’s sides were determined by the 2021 year-end rankings, while the remaining teams selected their Kickoff Weekend site through the ITA Kickoff Weekend Draft.

North Carolina, who took home both the Men’s and Women’s National Team Indoor Championships last season, will look to defend their titles this season as both the men and women serve as ITA Kickoff Weekend hosts.

College Station is a site to keep a close eye on for the men’s side as Texas A&M (No. 19), Arizona (No. 14), and UCLA (No. 25) will all enter as top 25 teams, while Texas Tech (RV), will also serve as a tough matchup.

On the women’s side, the Waco regional is shaping up to be quite the slugfest as well with Baylor (No. 19), USC (No. 17), and Miami (No. 24) all bringing momentum in from the fall for what is sure to be a defining weekend for one of these programs.

The ACC will have bragging rights on the men’s side of play this weekend, totaling a best 12 teams over the 60-team field. On the women’s side, the SEC comes out on top with 11 total teams in the field which is two more than the next closest conference.

In total, this year’s ITA Kickoff Weekend will feature all 25 ranked teams in both the Jan. 19 Division I Men’s and Women’s ITA Top 25 Coaches Poll.
