After a First Round which saw all eight seeded teams pick up wins, the Quarterfinals of the 2022 ITA Division I Women’s National Team Indoor Championship brought all of the heavy hitters together for what was a day full of upsets.

Kicking things off in the early match of the day, back-to-back ITA Indoor Champions North Carolina (2) survived a tough test from Virginia (7) fighting back after dropping the doubles point to the Cavaliers.

In the first upset of the tournament, NC State (6) held off a strong surge from Georgia (3) to win 4-2 and advance to their first-ever ITA Indoor Championship semifinal match where they will take on North Carolina.

Following suit with the upsets, Pepperdine (5) outdueled fellow west coast rival California (4), taking the match 4-1 after locking down four singles wins to overcome losing the doubles point.

The biggest upset of the night came in the night cap of the day as Oklahoma (8) took down top seeded and No. 1 ranked Texas 4-1 to clinch their spot in the Semifinals. After taking the doubles point, the Sooners grabbed wins on courts 2, 3, and 6 to secure their first win over the Longhorns since the 2003 season.

Semifinal action will begin tomorrow with North Carolina and NC State set to kick off play at noon (CT) while Pepperdine and Oklahoma are set for 3:30 pm (CT).
