The 2022 Division II and Division III National Team Indoor Sportsmanship Awards were announced on Thursday. The awards were voted on by all head coaches and the officials at their respective tournaments.


Division II Men Team Sportsmanship Award | University of Indianapolis

The University of Indianapolis have been awarded the 2022 Division II Men Team Sportsmanship Award after their great display of sportsmanship at the 2022 ITA Division II National Men’s Team Indoor Championship.

Playing in front of their supporters and community at the UIndy Tennis Center, the Greyhounds finished very well in the Tournament earning a fifth place finish after being North Georgia and Delta State on the second and third days of competition.

Just the third edition of this Team Sportsmanship Award, UIndy now joins Midwestern State (2021) and Hawaii Pacific (2020) as winners of this Award. The award is presented annually to the team that displays exceptional sportsmanship, character and ethical conduct during the national championship event.


Division II Women’s Team Sportsmanship Award | University of Central Oklahoma

Central Oklahoma takes the 2022 Division II Women Team Sportsmanship Award after having a great demeanor all throughout the 2022 ITA Division II National Women’s Team Indoor Championship.

The Bronchos enjoyed their deepest run in an ITA National Indoor event this year as they advanced all the way to the Championship Match before finishing Runners-Up to top-seeded Barry.

Central Oklahoma now joins Angelo State (2021) and Hawaii Pacific (2020) as winners of this prestigious Award. The award is presented annually to the team that displays exceptional sportsmanship, character and ethical conduct during the national championship event.


2022 Steve Wilkinson Team Sportsmanship Award | Brandeis University

Brandeis University are your 2022 Steve Wilkinson Team Sportsmanship Award winners after showing great attitude all throughout the 2022 ITA Division III National Men’s Team Indoor Championship.

The Steve Wilkinson Team Sportsmanship Award was introduced in 2015 and is dedicated to the memory of long-time Golden Gusties head coach and founder of Tennis & Life Camps, Steve Wilkinson. 

The Judges, after falling in 5-4 match to Trinity on the opening day of competition, bounced back in a big way on Day Two of the Indoor Championship taking down Gustavus 6-3 to advance to the fifth place match on the final day of competition.

The award is presented to the team that has displayed exceptional sportsmanship, character and ethical conduct in the true spirit of competition and college tennis during the ITA Division III National Men’s Team Indoor Championship each year.


Division III Women Team Sportsmanship Award | Carnegie Mellon University

Carnegie Mellon University takes home the Division III Women Team Sportsmanship Award after demonstrating great ethics and sportsmanship all through the 2022 ITA Division III National Women’s Team Indoor Championship.

After falling in the Opening Round of competition, the Tartans showed great fight bouncing back on the second day of competition to take down hosts Centre College 7-2 to earn their spot in the fifth place match.

Without competition in 2021 due to Covid-19, this 2022 award marks the seventh year for this DIII Women Team Sportsmanship Award. The award is presented annually to the team that displays exceptional sportsmanship, character and ethical conduct during the national championship event.
