Complete Mixed Doubles Draw

For the first time in her career, former UCLA standout Ena Shibahara has been crowned a Grand Slam Champion as she and her partner Wesley Koolhof win the 2022 French Open Mixed Doubles Championship.

As the No. 8 ranked doubles player coming into the French Open, Shibihara and her partner went into the Slam as the No. 2 seed within the Mixed Doubles Draw and never looked back winning every match, minus their first-round match, in straight sets.

Facing off against another former college tennis alum in Joran Vliegen (East Carolina) and his partner Ulrikke Eikeri in the Finals, Shibahara and Koolhof jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first set before Vliegen and Eikeri were able to pull the set score even winning three games in a row to tie the first set at 5-5.

After each held serves to force a first set tiebreak, Shibahara and Koolhof quickly found themselves down 5-2 in the tiebreak with all of the momentum in their opponent’s corner. However, unphased by the pressure Shibahara and Koolhoof would buckle down and go on to win the next five points in the match to take the first set.

With all of the momentum now on their side, Shibahara and Koolhof cruised in the second set winning 6-2 in the set to take home the Mixed Doubles Championship.

For Shibahara, this Title now marks her ninth so far in her professional career which just began three years ago in 2019.
