It is with great pleasure that the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (“ITA”) announces the expansion of the National Team Indoor Championship schedule to include NAIA Men’s and Women’s competitions beginning in the 2023 spring season.

With the addition of this event, the ITA will now oversee eight National Team Indoor Championships over the span of February and into early March with NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, and now NAIA schools being represented.

“The ITA’s national team indoor championships represent a pinnacle of our sport, ” said Dr. Timothy Russell, Chief Executive Officer of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. “Our Association crowns national indoor team champions and we are delighted to be adding the two new NAIA events. We are honored to be partnering with Kansas Wesleyan University as the host institution in this exciting new endeavor.”

Featuring eight of the top men’s and women’s teams from the NAIA level each season, the 2023-2025 ITA NAIA National Team Indoor Championships will be hosted by Kansas Wesleyan University at the state-of-the-art Overland Park Racquet Club in early February.  Named the 2017 USTA “Facility of the Year,” Overland Park Racquet Club will offer 11 lighted courts and a spectator capacity between 75-100 with ample space on both overlooking balconies and lower-level spaces.

“On behalf of President Dr. Matt Thompson, Vice President Ken Oliver, and Athletics Director Steve Wilson, we are absolutely thrilled to be the host university for the inaugural ITA NAIA National Indoor Team Championships,” stated Kansas Wesleyan Head Coach Josh Molino. “Bringing such a prestigious event to the Missouri Valley and partnering with a world-class facility like Overland Park Racquet Club is a win-win for all parties involved. Kansas Wesleyan University aims to provide a model NAIA Athletics program and this is another step in solidifying that position. We believe in intentional attention to detail, and I believe that this will show in the way this championship is conducted.”

“It is thrilling to expand the historic National Team Indoor Championship brand,” states the ITA’s Competitive Department Senior Manager, Justin Cerny. “Since the addition of the NCAA Division II National Team Indoor Championships in 2020, the commitment from the ITA to our membership has never been greater!”

With this addition of the NAIA National Team Indoor Championship, the ITA continues to offer its members more unique and exciting competitions that not only further the reach of college tennis, but also make for a better experience for both players and coaches.

Over the span of the spring, summer, and fall, the ITA now offers over 15 Championships including the likes of the ITA Tennis-Point National Summer Championships powered by Universal Tennis, the ITA Cup, and the ITA National Fall Championships just to name a few.
