Position Summary: Arkansas Tech University seeks a dynamic, proven leader with the experience and skills necessary to serve as head coach of its NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis program. The successful candidate will inherit a program that has accumulated over 250 dual match wins all-time, three regular season conference championships and two NCAA Regional Tournament appearances since 2012. The women’s tennis program has also produced three conference player of the year, four conference newcomer of the year and four conference freshman of the year honors.

This position is responsible for directing all aspects of the women’s tennis program including, recruitment and development of student-athletes, budget development and management, and engaging with members of the university community and citizens of the Arkansas River Valley. He or she will also be responsible for assuring compliance with policies and procedures set forth by Arkansas Tech University, the Great American Conference and the NCAA.

The successful candidate will contribute to the ATU Department of Athletics’ nationally recognized culture of community service, oversee the operation of summer camps and cultivate relationships with alumni/community members for the benefit of ATU, the Department of Athletics and the women’s tennis program.

The head women’s tennis coach reports to the director of athletics and performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment and development of student-athletes, Budget development and management,
  • Adherence to all paperwork and program management policies within the department of Athletics Participation in fundraising is expected
  • Engaging with members of the university community and citizens of the Arkansas River Valley
  • Responsible for assuring compliance with policies and procedures set forth by Arkansas Tech University, the Great American Conference and the NCAA.
  • Contribute to the ATU Department of Athletics’ nationally recognized culture of community service, oversee the operation of summer camps and cultivate relationships with alumni/community members for the benefit of ATU, the Department of Athletics and the women’s tennis program.
  • Teaching and/or academic coach
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Athletics

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Excellent ability to grasp and teach tennis fundamentals and strategies Knowledge of the NCAA Division II rules and regulations
  • A strong public service orientation to work well with faculty, staff, students, and the community Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
  • Maintain a commitment to academic and athletic excellence Oral and written communication skills
  • Computer skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Head coaching experience Collegiate coaching experience Proven fundraising skills
  • Eligible to drive on behalf of the State of Arkansas
  • Demonstrated success in the recruitment and development of student-athletes

Minimum Education, Certification, or Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree
  • B.A. or B.S Degree
  • Proven tennis coaching experience
  • Current certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use or willingness to become certified
