Shepherd University – Head Men’s & Women’s Tennis Coach


Shepherd University is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Head Men’s & Women’s Tennis Coach.  The successful candidate will be expected to develop and manage all facets of a NCAA Division II tennis program necessary to accomplish objectives of the sport within the guidelines of the Athletic Department, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and NCAA Division II rules, including, but not limited to: Academic excellence; Recruitment and retention of student-athletes; Skill development, instruction, and strategies to achieve competitive success; Budget and resource management; Prepare and report in a timely manner, particularly regarding athletic budget, eligibility, compliance and travel documentation; Scheduling of all competition and training; Select, supervise and evaluate assistant coaches; Alumni/community engagement; Coaching staff supervision; Conduct and Discipline; Sportsmanship; Compliance with principles and bylaws of the NCAA, Shepherd University, and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference; Commitment to student-athlete welfare and personal development and other job-related duties as assigned. This position reports to the Vice President for Athletics and is a NCAA Division II intercollegiate men’s and women’s tennis program in compliance with all NCAA, PSAC and institutional rules and regulations.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in related field; Two years of coaching experience; Experience as a student-athlete or graduate assistant coach will be considered. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of skills, techniques and strategies of tennis; CPR and First Aid certified

Equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered as meeting the minimum qualification, at the direction of the hiring supervisor.

Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree or equivalent; Experience coaching on the college level
