Job Description

Promote an atmosphere of compliance where all policies and procedures of the Department and University, as well as rules and regulations of the SEC, NCAA and other authorities that may legitimately influence the intercollegiate athletics program are adhered to and enforced.

Assist in coaching, scouting and recruitment of student-athletes, to include evaluating their performance in both practice and competition and providing leadership and instruction in areas of deficiencies, as required.

Assist with the development of schedules for practice and competition and assist in the planning and administering of the off-season training program.  Monitor the conditioning and training of student-athletes in conjunction with the strength and conditioning coaches and athletic training staff.  Assist in coordinating team travel arrangements, as requested, and assist with on-campus and off-campus visits of prospective student athletes.  Travel with the team and monitor the conduct of student-athletes.  Coordinate with the equipment manager to ensure the necessary athletic equipment is available for scheduled practices and competitive events.  Participate in clinics, exhibitions and camps as approved.

Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters, to include consulting with the appropriate Directors, Associate and Assistant Directors of Athletics, and other university administrators to resolve problems.  Advise and counsel student-athletes regarding their obligations to comply with all rules and regulations related to financial aid and eligibility, as well as personal conduct and appearance.

Participate in the collection and analysis of tactical and statistical data of opponent teams and assist in designing game plans and strategies.  Attend coaches’ preparatory meetings and implement strategies resulting from these meetings.  Assist in maintaining statistics, as required.

Participate in public relations activities, as approved, to include granting interviews with newspapers, radio and television media, attending press conferences and making public appearances.  Represent the Department at professional, civic, charitable, fund raising and alumni events, as requested.

Perform other related duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach and/or the assigned Associate Director of Athletics of Director of Athletics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 Years of NCAA Division 1 coaching experience. Current of former ATP or WTA player. NCAA Division 1,2 or 3 All-American status preferred. Top 100 NCAA Division 1 ranking in singles and Top 25 NCAA Division 1 ranking in doubles preferred.
  • Preferred coaching and playing experience at NCAA Division 1 tournament. Preferred National Championship level coaching or playing at the NCAA Division 1, 2 or 3 level.
  • 3-5 Years of on-court teaching experience with adults and children preferred.
