JOB DESCRIPTION

Centre College invites qualified applicants for the full-time position of Head Women’s Tennis Coach.  Reporting to the Director of Athletics, this position leads all aspects in building a nationally competitive Division III women’s tennis program, including but not limited to: identifying and recruiting successful student-athletes, skill development during practices and games, monitoring student-athlete academic progress, building a positive and cohesive team culture, scouting, and other duties as assigned. Additional secondary duty to be determined.  

This position requires compliance with all NCAA, SAA, and Centre College rules and regulations and to be mindful of the College’s core values of diversity and inclusion.

Poised for success, enhancements to the Centre Tennis programs over the past two years include: a team-room, the creation of the Seabury Family Indoor Tennis Center, and the complete overhaul of the outdoor tennis complex.  

With groundbreaking in July 2021, Centre Athletics is constructing the $60 million Initiative for Wellness and Athletics Excellence (IWAE) project.  The transformational facility will feature a new indoor fieldhouse, with a 200-meter track plus indoor turf, a 50-meter natatorium, a new baseball facility, plus a new stadium for football, men’s lacrosse, and track and field.  Included in this strategic initiative is over 6,000 square feet of additional strength and conditioning space.   

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Bachelor’s degree required.  Previous collegiate coaching is required.  A commitment to the Division III philosophy; knowledge of NCAA and SAA rules; and a demonstrated ability to recruit, retain, and mentor student-athletes and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations are essential.  Additional qualifications include communication skills that allow for the ability to teach, motivate, and counsel student-athletes effectively as well as being self-motivated, positive, energetic, eager to teach, and a willingness to travel.  Ability to work successfully within a team-oriented athletic department is essential.
