The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (“ITA”) has released today the NCAA Division I Women’s Preseason Top 25 Coaches Poll sponsored by Tennis-Point for January 4, 2023.

Two-time defending NCAA Champions, Texas, will start 2023 where they ended it last season, earning seven of the 12 possible first-place votes in today’s preseason poll. The Longhorns will once again look to find their magic this season as they will be having to find a new identity after losing the top two players in their lineup in Peyton Stearns and Kylie Collins.

North Carolina will start the season at the No. 2 spot, earning five of the possible first-place votes in the Jan. 4 Preseason Rankings. The Tar Heels enter the season with the No. 1 ranked singles player in the nation as well as the No. 1 ranked doubles team in the nation after a spectacular fall season.

Across the entire Preseason Top 25, the SEC and ACC lead all conferences with each having six representatives in the rankings.

The SEC is led by the 2022 SEC Champions, Texas A&M (No. 5), while the ACC has two teams in the Top-Three in North Carolina (No. 2) and NC State (No. 3).

The ITA Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by the ITA National Ranking Committee. The National Ranking Committee is made up of the 12 ITA Region Chairs, with each chair casting an individual, secret ballot.
