The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (“ITA”) has released today the NCAA Division III Women’s Preseason Top 40 Coaches Poll and Top 10 Regional Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point for January 17, 2023.
It is defending NCAA Champions, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, who will start the season at the top spot, as the Athenas finished out their 2022 campaign with purpose, winning their last nine matches to finish the year with an exceptional 27-3 record.
Just behind CMS is the 2022 ITA National Team Indoor Champions, UChicago, who are looking to build on one of their best seasons in program history last season. Returning some big names from last season’s lineup, UChicago will be led by Sylwia Mikos who was crowned the ITA Cup Singles National Champion this past fall.
Rounding out the Top 5 of the Jan. 17 Preseason Rankings will be Wesleyan (No. 3), Pomona-Pitzer (No. 4), and Middlebury (No. 5) who will each look to rise up the rankings as the spring season continues to kick off across all divisions of play.
The ITA DIII Coaches Poll is voted on by the ITA National Ranking Committee. The National Ranking Committee is made up of the four ITA Region Chairs, as well as one National Chair.
