Berry College seeks a Head Men’s & Women’s Tennis Coach prepared to lead a highly competitive program, building on the home-court advantage of the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College, a Championship facility. The successful candidate will be skilled at recruiting and
developing talented athletes who are also strong academic students. We seek a strong relational and communication coach who will collaborate energetically with a national-caliber tennis facility in a community excited for tennis at all levels. We aspire to hire a leader who will be an integral part of the athletic department and the college and strengthen our community of belonging.

ABOUT BERRY TENNIS: Berry College tennis programs were started in 1959. Berry College is an NCAA Division III program with Southern Athletic Association (SAA) membership. The Vikings have 25 All-SAA selections and over 100 SAA All-Academic selections in its brief DIII era (since 2012). We compete at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College. The Rome Tennis Center opened in 2016 and added indoor courts in 2020. The center features 57-courts on a 30-acre site. The site comprises USTA standard, asphalt tennis courts, 6 NCAA regulation courts, 6 indoor courts, and 3 center courts for tournament and collegiate play. Live streaming from main courts. ABOUT BERRY COLLEGE: Berry is a selective independent college of 2,200 located adjacent to Rome, GA, midway between Atlanta, GA, and Chattanooga, TN. Berry’s educational approach deliberately unites challenging academic programs with practical work experience in a

RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the successful candidate will be responsible for all facets of Berry College’s men’s & women’s tennis programs. Responsibilities include the recruitment and retention of student-athletics who can be successful in an athletically and academically rigorous environment, the ability to develop the skills of athletes, create a competitive schedule within budget parameters, actively participate in fundraising strategies, oversee and balance the team’s annual operating budget, and manage all other administrative duties. Written and verbal communication skills are important, along with a deep understanding of supporting the whole student. The candidate will demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to a comprehensive liberal arts education, Division III athletics, and an appreciation for and commitment to the NCAA, Southern Athletic Association (SAA), and institutional culture. Along with coaching, the candidate will be assigned administrative responsibilities in the Department of Athletics. The candidate will have experience creating campus and community support for the men’s & women’s tennis programs and their athletes and continuing to build upon the tradition of competitive athletic programs.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Previous collegiate coaching experience is essential, with a preference for NCAA Division III experience.
