Division II Men's ITA National Assistant Coach of the Year

Terry Dermer from Fairmont State University has been named the 2023 Wilson ITA Coach of the Year. Terry has been around the sport of tennis for over 40 years, Dermer played collegiately at Fairmont and spent time coach at West Virginia before taking over the reigns at his alma mater four years ago. The Falcons achieved the highest ranking in program history, won the MEC title for the first time in program history, and reached the NCAA Round of Sixteen in Orlando this year.


ITA Assistant Coach of the Year

Neil Tarangioli | St. Thomas Aquinas College

Division II Men's ITA National Assistant Coach of the Year

Neil Tarangioli from St. Thomas Aquinas College has been named the 2023 ITA National Assistant Coach of the Year. Serving the world of college tennis for over 40 years, Tarangioli is a counselor, a guide, a teacher, a humble gentleman, and a dear friend to everyone around him. In 2023, the Spartans finished the year with a record of 17-2 and have been ranked within the Top 30 of the ITA Rankings in just Tarangioli’s second year with the program, a program that had previously never been nationally ranked.


ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship

Luca Mack | Valdosta State University

Division II Men's ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership Award

Luca Mack from Valdosta State University has been named the 2023 ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award winner.Luca Mack from Valdosta State University has been named the 2023 ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award winner. In 2023 Mack finished the year with a 16-1 singles record at No. 1 singles and was the No. 2 ranked player in the ITA Singles National Rankings. Mack won the Fall 2022 South Regional Singles Finals and advanced to the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia where he suffered his only loss of the fall in the finals. Mack was named First Team all Gulf South Conference and earned the Gulf South Conference Player of the Year award. Off the court, during his 2021-2022 campaign, Mack garnered the Student-Athletic Academic Spotlight award for demonstrating outstanding leadership in academics. This award was chosen by Valdosta State’s Faculty Athletic Committee and exemplifies how Luca adds value to his academic environment. In the same year, Mack earned Gulf South Conference All-Academic Team as well.


ITA Rookie of the Year

Ivan Marrero | Saint Leo University

Division II Men's ITA Rookie of the Year

Ivan Marrero from Saint Leo University has been named the 2023 ITA Rookie of the Year. Since joining Saint Leo this January, Marrero has proven himself as one of the best players if not the best player in all of Division II. He finished the season 17-0 from the No. 1 singles position and ranked No. 3 in the country in singles and had wins over numerous Top 25 opponents. Marrero lost only three sets in singles all season. He was named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference in Singles, and Second Team All-Conference in Doubles


ITA Most Improved Senior

Tom Zeuch | University of Indianapolis

Division II Men's ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership Award

Beginning his strides this past fall, Zeuch won the ITA Midwest Region Doubles Championship with partner Edgar Destouet before winning the ITA Cup Doubles National Championship just a few weeks later. The duo have been ranked No. 1 in the country all season long. After sustaining an injury during the 2021-22 season, Zeuch showed no signs of rust in singles play this year either going 22-3 from the No. 2 singles position, including winning his last 11 matches of the season. Zeuch was named ALL-GLVC First Team for his efforts in both singles and doubles play this season.


ITA Senior Player of the Year

Santiago Perez | Columbus State University

Division II Men's ITA Senior Player of the Year

Santiago Perez from Columbus State University has been named the 2023 ITA Senior Player of the Year. Beginning in the Fall, Perez won the ITA Southeast Regional Singles and Doubles Titles before winning ITA Cup Singles Championship just a few weeks later. Holding the No. 1 Singles Ranking for the entirety of the season, Perez finished 23-2 on the season and was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year. His efforts helped lead the Cougars to yet another NCAA Finalist finish and his impact will have a lasting legacy on the Cougar program.
