One of the reasons cited for the recent elimination of college tennis programs has been a lack of facilities. Several programs that have been eliminated were having to drive significant distances for practices and home matches in the winter months. Athletic Directors often believe that without their own facility it is harder for the team to be competitive and causes a health, safety, and time management issue for their student-athletes. Court rental fees can also be excessive compared to the facilities required to sponsor other sports.
In this webinar Virgil Christian, the Senior Director of Facility Development at the USTA, will help educate coaches on what they need to know about the process of building a college tennis facility on their campus. He will also give some insights as to how these facilities can become profit centers for athletic departments along with the many other benefits associated with athletic departments owning and operating their own tennis facilities.
