Elon University is seeking an Assistant Men’s Tennis Coach. This position will work with the men’s tennis program to provide support during practice sessions and during competitions. Demonstrate a commitment to NCAA rules compliance and adherence to NCAA regulations.
The Assistant Coach is responsible for specifically designated aspects of the sport, exercises independent judgment in providing technical expertise in the fundamentals of the sport, teaching student-athletes basic and advanced skills, and assisting the Head Athletic Coach in management of the team through recruiting, program development, fund-raising, promotional activities, and related assigned responsibilities. The Assistant Coach guides and mentors student-athletes throughout the academic year.
- Enables the achievement of a quality, competitive sports program and supports the educational goals of individual student-athletes by demonstrating a coaching philosophy that encourages those goals and promotes an environment conducive to both.
- Assumes responsibility for a particular aspect of the sport as assigned by the Head Coach, planning short and long terms objectives under the leadership of the head coach, demonstrating technical expertise in the basics of the sport, and teaching the fundamentals and advanced level skills and game strategies to student-athletes.
- Protects the integrity of the sport coached and the reputation of the intercollegiate athletics program of the University by complying with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and regulations as well as applicable conference rules and University policies regarding recruiting activities, student-athlete eligibility determination, scholarships and financial aid programs, scheduled practice sessions, and related covered activities.
- Participates as a member of the University community by teaching appropriate courses or class sessions, as required.
