After four days of high-level play during the 2023 ITA Kickoff Weekend, the fields are now set for the upcoming ITA Division I Men’s and Women’s National Team Indoor Championships.

Beginning with the 2023 ITA Division I Women’s National Team Indoor Championship, the 15 ITA Kickoff Weekend advancing teams included; Auburn, Duke, Georgia, Iowa State, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Pepperdine, San Diego, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, and Virginia

Three-time reigning Indoor Champions, North Carolina, will make their return to the ITA Indoor Championships in 2023 after an impressive showing during Kickoff Weekend. The Tar Heels already have beaten fellow Indoor Championship qualifier, Auburn, and will face another tough test later this week in Georgia

San Diego secured two of their biggest wins in program history during Kickoff Weekend play. Taking down No. 25 Georgia Tech and No. 11 Cal in consecutive matches, the Toreros earned their first berth to the ITA National Team Indoors in the Kickoff Weekend era.

Taking over for legendary head coach Sherri Stephens in the offseason, Nadia Abdala has taken the reigns of the San Diego program with grace, earning her first two career coaching wins during this historic Kickoff Weekend run.

Iowa State will be another first-time Indoor Championship attendee in 2023 after the Cyclones took down No. 18 UCLA and No. 10 Miami in Coral Gables this past weekend. These wins marked the highest-ranked wins in program history for Iowa State as Head Coach Boomer Saia continues to impress now in his fifth season with the Cyclones.

At the NC State Kickoff Weekend Regional, Vanderbilt was the team to make waves, taking down Furman and No. 3 NC State to earn their spot into the National Team Indoors. Winning four singles matches after losing the doubles point, the Dores advanced to the Indoor Championships for the first time since 2019.

These teams are set to join the 2023 ITA Women’s National Team Indoor Championship hosts, Washington, in Seattle from Feb. 10-13 with play being held at the Nordstrom Tennis Center as well as the Seattle Tennis Club.

For the 2023 ITA Division I Men’s National Team Indoor Championships, the 15 ITA Kickoff Weekend advancing teams included; Baylor, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio State, South Carolina, Stanford, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, USC, Virginia, and Wake Forest

Marking the first time since 2011, all 15 host sites advanced to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. This did not come without challenge though as several championship matches came down to one or two crucial moments that decided the fate of the match.

The 2022 ITA National Team Indoor Champions, TCU, will have the chance to defend their crown in 2023 after the Horned Frogs beat Gonzaga and Texas Tech at the TCU Kickoff Weekend Regional.

For USC, this Kickoff Weekend marked the 15th consecutive year in which they hosted as well as their 15th consecutive year in which they advanced to the Indoor Championships. The 15 appearances mark the most from any school in the Kickoff Weekend era, putting them just one ahead of Ohio State who has advanced 14 times.

Across all conferences, the SEC leads the way with five representatives competing at the 2023 Indoor Championships. This puts them two representatives above the next closest conferences in the ACC, Big 10, and Big 12 who each place three teams in the Indoor Championships.

These teams will join the 2023 ITA Men’s National Team Indoor Championship hosts, Illinois, in Chicago from Feb. 17-20 with play being held at the XS Tennis Village.
