KEARNEY, NE. – For the third time in the past four years, the Barry Buccaneers are the ITA Division II Women’s National Team Indoor Champions after taking down Saint Leo 4-0 in today’s Finals.

Coming off of a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Hawaii Pacific in yesterday’s Semifinals, Barry showed no signs of tiredness today, coming out firing for the first serve until the last.

In doubles, the Buccaneers showed why they have remained at the pinnacle of Division II Women’s college tennis for as long as they have by earning a 6-2 victory on court one and a 6-2 victory on court three to take the 1-0 lead heading into singles.

Now well into singles play, Barry continued to shine, winning the first sets on four of the six singles courts to put them in a great position to take their second-straight National Team Indoor Title.

It was the nation’s No. 1 ranked singles player, Deniz Khazan, who earned the second point for Barry as she won 6-1, 6-1 from court one just before Selina Pichler won her match on court four 6-1, 6-3 to move the score to 3-0 in favor of the Buccaneers.

The clinch came on court five for Barry as Daniela Farfan earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory to secure the National Championship for the Buccaneers, which marked their third National Team Indoor Championship in the past four years.
